What is Lingviny?

Lingviny is a plugin for Gmail that enables our professional human translators to translate and send your email. To use Lingviny, you must login to Gmail or Google Apps with Safari or Chrome.

Is it safe?

Yes! All data with Lingviny is sent over HTTPS, the protocol banks use to transfer credit card data. Our credit card transactions are processed with Paddle. We use SSL encryption to protect your data.

What platforms does Lingviny support?

Currently, you must be using Gmail through Chrome. Additionally, you must use the standard Gmail interface, not Google’s new Inbox interface.

How fast is it?

We track turnaround times meticulously, and are always seeking to shorten them. Typical translations take 10-30 minutes. Some jobs, depending on the complexity of the content might take longer.

What will my recipient see in the “From” field?

Your email is essentially sent by you. So your recipient(s) will always see only your name and email address when the message is sent.

Can you translate text from a picture?

Currently we do not support translations of graphic images. Any graphic images in your email will be sent as is, untranslated.

Can you translate attachments?

Currently we cannot translate any email attachments. They will be sent as is. Please note that we do not support any attachments sent via Google drive.

How do I start using Lingviny?

Install the Chrome extension, open your Gmail and you are all set!

What exactly will I see on screen as the Lingviny magic takes place?

After you click the Lingviny button, your email will be saved in your Drafts folder with the Label “Lingviny Pending”. Our translators will be notified and will begin translating your email message. When they are finished, your email's Label will change to “Lingviny Done”. The email will be in your Sent Mail folder. Please do not move your original message from the Drafts, otherwise we will not be able to send the translation.
